Obney Hills.....

Post by cbitterli » Mon Mar 14, 2005 4:40 am

There is location near Bankfoot called Obney Hills. Nearby there are three villages which contain the name Obney in their name. My mother's maiden name was Obney. I would very much like to find out how those places obtained their names. Thanks for any help that anyone can provide me.

None of my standard sources, including Google, is helpful in this instance.

All I can offer is this site http://www.visitdunkeld.com/dunkeld-prehistoric.htm, which demonstrates just how old the name may be.

An email to the A K Library in Perth. localstudiesATpkc.gov.uk, might give you access to locally based expertise. The website at http://www.pkc.gov.uk/library/localstudies.htm appears to be down at the moment.
