Mystery badge

Post by Orlaith17 » Fri Oct 19, 2018 1:19 pm

I'm wondering if anyone can shed any light on a military badge for sale in our local auction mart? I've researched as much as I can but not finding anything.

I'm thinking maybe French but don't know. There's a cigarette holder with it engraved 1914. Any ideas much appreciated.

After looking at many badges and pins I'm thinking it may have belonged to a motorcycle driver.

Oh, interesting. Dispatch rider? I decided to bid on it as was interested and husband and myself both collect old military memorabilia and medals. The cigarette case with it was interesting too. There was also a little badge in the box with it that hadn't been shown in the lot. That was marked Royal Irish Fusiliers but of course the three items may not be related.

Not a military badge, it's the badge of the C.T.C. -- Cyclists Touring Club.
There is a large version of it on a building in Elgin at the corner of Academy Street and South Street
that was once the Grand Hotel.
