I have been searching for 3x great grandfather in 1841 and 1851 for several years. While I was in S.P. yesterday, by chance, I discovered in the Parish records that he had had a child by another woman and, in the christening record, his home was given as the farm where he and his wife lived with the extended family
. No wonder I couldn't find him with his wife in any census after that. His wife and brother in law must have sent him packing! Rae
