Hi Sobil,

I don't know what shipwreck infomation NAS holds. I would have to search their website.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Andrew,

I just went surfing on the NAS site and found lots of McColls under "Family History" "search". Crimes of lude and libidious behaviour, sheep stealing, house breaking...... I hope they aren't related but it is a fascinating site.

I just went to

http:/www.ca/mha/research/principalrecords.php (sorry I'm off the page didn't copy the link)

It has British Empire vessel records for most of 1863-1938 and 1951-1976 on line searchable I believe. You need a vessel name or Official No. but if you have that info it is possible to trace some crews career history, apparently.

They keep alot of UK data but I don't know how helpful their research section is.

Good luck

Hi Sobil
I think there may be a bit missing between the "www" and the ".ca" as it doesn't seem to be working which is a shame as it looked like it would be an interesting site.

However, a quick google solved the problem and this works:
http://www.mun.ca/mha/research/principalrecords.php

Best wishes
Lesley
