Mariners Ticket

Post by Shortfuse » Thu Nov 01, 2007 11:45 am

Hello again
Is there anyway to get information from a Mariners Register Ticket ? I know it was issued 27/12/1844 to a Robert Henrey. What I trying to find out is where it was issued.I don't know the number of the ticket and apart from his height and colour of hair have no other information from it.
best regards sf

Hello Shortfuse,

Here’s a record of legal proceedings (under Precedents) involving a "mariners register ticket". That particular one was applied for at the General Register and Record Office of Seamen in London and was issued by the Registrar of Seamen in 1845.

A Google for “General Register and Record Office of Seamen” will bring up a relatively small number of references to records held by National Archives, and other reading matter.

Hope this helps,
Alan
