Scotland's Private Navy

Post by Gules » Sat Feb 05, 2011 3:37 pm

During the War of 1812, against the United States, Scotland sent out some 29 armed merchant ships with Letters of marque to attack American shipping – Some 15,000 British Soldiers and seamen were held in the US during this war – information on both of these subjects can be found at www.1812privateers.org
