Boston Ship Arrival 1923

Post by scooter » Wed Oct 05, 2005 10:40 am

Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has access to the ship arrivals in Boston for 1923 that I believe may be on the Ancestry website? If they do, I'd be grateful if they could have a quick look to see if there is a Catherine Sindick listed who travelled on the Cameronia from Glasgow during March of that year.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best wishes,

Scott

You might try
http://www.abdn.ac.uk/emigration/index.html. Iput a search of your name but had no luck but you may have more. If anyone does have Ancestry.com it most probably will be on it as mine were. You can do a pay per view on Ancestry its about £6 i think
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

Hi Tracey,

Thanks for that. In fact it was the site you mentioned that led me to the Boston records. I was interested in exactly when Catherine's ship arrived and what information she had to give when she arrived in the US. From what I can see, the pay-per-view aspect of Ancestry relates to the UK version, the US arm of the company doesn't seem to offer this, and it doesn't seem worth paying a years subscription to them for one record.

Thanks again,

Scott

Hi scott
You can access American records on Ancestry.com, ive done it and got ship list and census from it. From your reply i thought i was going batty and wondered how i got them as i couldnt log into .com but finally manged to remember my password  I didnt want to pay that silly amount of money either for a sub and i think its ony in the last few months they introduced ppv and thats why i used it.

Pay-Per-View : View up to five records for only $4.95. You'll also receive a subscription discount if you upgrade within the time limit. :-k not much though !

You may know this but this is what you can access......................
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse. ... &gst=&so=3

But even better if someone here does have a subscription. If i remeber correctly the credits on .com are used 1 credit per view unlike S/P you have to use 1 credit to see the list them 5 credits to view image.

i will stop rambling now

Thank you so much to everyone who has helped me with this particular record, the information really is invaluable and has helped place another useful piece in the family history puzzle.

Very best wishes,

Scott,

I don't know if this is your Catherine Sindick but since her maiden name is not very common in addition to the son being born in Andover, Massachusettes....

Hi Kelly,

Thanks for your post. I had indeed seen the obituary, not long after it was originally posted and got in touch with one of the daughters, the other strangely enough has just sent me an e-mail two years later!

Best wishes,

Scott
