Hello again,

I'm just going out hope you're still on.

I will post the Mary Marshall / Fairley application tomorrow. Actually I was quite interested in this one as if I have the correct family then your husband shares ancestors with a friend of mine. Is the name Pinkerton in his family? Does he know of any Armstrongs?

Hello again,

I can tell you that's a definite then :D because Elizabeth Fairley married Matthew Scott and according to Mary Pinkerton they were in America by 1886.
I'll post Mary Pinkerton's poorhouse application tomorrow. I got this for my friend when I was doing her family tree as a birthday gift.

Kind regards,

Mary died 2.11.1895 and her husband who was born in Paisley was in the poorhouse.

If you live in Glasgow it's worth going to 'The Mitchell' and viewing these records.

My friend is descended from Grace, who married John Armstrong in 1862.

Any questions just ask.

Annette M

Interested in the Pinkertons as one of mine married a Pinkerton.
Will have a look to refresh my memory but it was around the Lanark/Paisley area & I remember she was left a young widow & then two of her boys were killed down the pit.
Will get back when I can find which rellie it was.Not a lot of Pinkertons about.
