Managed to cut the size down enough. The family are the only one on the page, so cut out the empty lines.

Another look makes me wonder if maybe it is Ammin, but the dot that might make the second last letter an i could just be an accidental mark :?

Not sure any Canadian would have referred to her birthplace as America Canada, assuming either she or Thomas filled in the census form themselves. Both could read and write.

Must admit, it could be read as that though!

I also thought it could be (stretching here) Arnison or similar?

I have seen Canada America/America Canada a few times when I have been transcribing for Freecen.

In that case it very well could be! I'd based my observation on knowing a few Canadians who used to get REALLY upset if they were called American. Maybe the enumerator who took the info from the form they filled in took it upon himself to do that.

Canada is part of the North American Continent, which is probably why the enumerator decided to write it as such.
