Ouch! It's okay... I'm bearing up  Know what you mean about the heatwave, Brian--We still have snow on the ground here in Southern France  and we're running out of wood (we heat with wood stoves). Hope your plumber comes soon! Should be nice and cosy in the MItchell 8)

Thanks to both of you for the super-human efforts! Keep warm!

Right now that's sorted I'll go for my alternative plan of the sofa, a box of tissues and The Time Traveler's (no that's not a spelling error) Wife on dvd. :D

Best wishes,
Annette

Hi Sarah,

I have details of two applications for relief, one from Augsut 1891 and one from October 1891.

They show that Alexander had a family of six and seems to have come to Glasgow to live with his daughter Jessie after his wife died. The family are Aulay, Jane, John, Jessie, Donald, William and Christina. The applications don't confirm when he was taken into the Poorhouse, but do indicate that Aulay and Donald had been supporting him financially, plus some other pieces of the family jigsaw.......

If you PM me an email address, I'll sent over the transcriptions this evening, once we've visited the mammies!!

Best wishes
