Mitchell Library Lookup Please

Post by GlendaT » Mon Oct 08, 2012 5:28 pm

Re: Poor Relief Application for Margaret Pitt (nee McGee/McGhee).
Would someone do a lookup in the Poor Relief Applications for Margaret Pitt (nee McGee/McGhee). Margaret was born about 1850 in Ireland, the widow of Thomas Pitt (he died in April 1872). Margaret was residing at 17 St. Joseph's Place, District of High Church with her two daughters, Helen and Margaret. I would appreciate if you find an application, would you be so kind as to record the Reference Number so I can order a photocopy.
Thanks,
Glenda

Hi Glenda,

Unless someone is going before then, I might be in the Mitchell one day next week and I'll have a look for you then.

I'll let you know if I find anything.

Best wishes

Brian

Hi Glenda,

Here is the other one (DHEW 14/48)

This application is very hard to read. The pages are almost like fine tracing paper and some writing has faded dramatically and in other places, ink has bled through onto the back of a page or the adjacent pages. There are some areas I could not read and I've marked these with [....] The Inspector also seems to have a habit of running his comments together without much punctuation. I've added a few commas to help make sense of it.

Hi Annette,

Mine had run down my face by then after being drookit on the walk from the train station  . I was only in the Archives from about 12.30 to 1.30pm, then was looking at the microfilmed newspapers after lunch. I was the tall good looking one in the big white woolly jumper!! :D

Best wishes
