Does anyone know the name of an place in Dundee which children were adopted from?

The lady was born in Sept 1949 and adopted 3 months later.
Unfortunately we don't know where about.But any help would be appriciated.

There will be an Adoptions Register entry, but this is closed to everyone other than the adoptee and their parents.

Do you know the birth name of the lady concerned ?

I do know that the Church of Scotland were involved in adoptions. This is from their web site, so might be worth contacting.

Yes we know her birth name.

If she is alive then she is entitled to have a copy of her original birth register entry, and to view the Sheriff Court papers at NAS associated with her adoption, which may well answer the question in terms of any institution involved.

Up until recently at least, unless her mother is alive, no.

My reason for the caveat is that a recent Act of Parliament might have relaxed the access situation a bit, - I'm not sure, - best to phone the Adoption Unit at NRH, - see http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/contacts/index.html

Her mother is still alive, so take her with us when we go to Edinburgh now.
