Hi,
Does anyone know of a "mental hospital in Kinross?"
At the turn of the century a relative of mine was noted as being here in the Dunfermline poor records.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Ang,
I don't know of any "mental" hospitals in Kinross, but there was a hospital in Cupar called the Fife and Kinross Asylum - could that have been it ?

Hi Ang
If it is the same one you are looking for, The Fife and Kinross Asylum was what is now known as Stratheden Hospital, which is about 2 to 3 miles south west Cupar, near the village of Springfield.

Caroline ,
I think it was.
I've read an earlier message and noticed that is had this too.
Thanks for your help though.
Lesley.
Thanks.
My husband has just informed me that he didn't realise i was that dumb as we've actually been to visit a freind in Stratheden Hospital.
Now he tells me...Maybe next time I'll ask him first.
We live only a short distance from Kinross .Thats why I was puzzled as I'd never heard it called anything other than Stratheden.
