Hello All
I have just discovered a postcard that was sent to my Dad during the First World War. It was sent to him at Hope Aus Hospital, Pendleton, Mancherster. I was wondering if anyone would know if I can find out any information on his stay at the hospital, it would have been in 1918 I am presuming. There is a post mark on the stamp but I cant make out a date. HOpe there is someone out there that can help me. also wondering is that hospital still standing today

A Google indicates a Hope Hospital in Salford, Manchester. This one had a functionning maternity unit up till at least 1956 and appears to have still been in existance in 1996. Don't know if it's the one you are looking for, but it might be worth while contacting the Salford advertiser for more information. www.salfordadvertiser.co.uk
Hope this helps.
Best wishes

Hi Margaret
Hope Hospital Salford is still in existence and is part of the Salford Royal Hospitals NHS Trust. It's a teaching hospital for Manchester University. I haven't been able to track down anything about its history, but there is a family history discussion group on the Salford council website and someone there may be able to help you.
Go to www.salford.gov.uk and click on Discussion forums under On-line services
