Can anyone read the occupation of George Steven please? Is it Butler...looks like Mutter

Also what is written under "Name and Maiden Name of Mother" for Catherine McClure....looks to me like "Cotton turn under" What???

You might need your reading glasses for that one

My best guesses are:
Catherine McClure, Cotton Yarn Winder
and
George Stephen, Butler, deceased

Hi,

Definitely agree with Andrew on Catherine but I haven't a clue about George.

Sylvia, if you send a contact form to SP (I assume the entries are downloaded from there) they will hopefully send you a photocopy of the poor image of Catherine's birth. The copies are usually better.

Thanks folks, always good to get those little niggles out of the way.

I suppose they had Cotton yarn winders in Ireland too, so it really doesn't help me to find out if it is my Catherine McClure

I have Sarah Marah (father John Marah and mother Catherine McClure) supposedly born in Ireland. This birth cert fits so neatly with names and dates though....hmmm ever hopeful
