West Dunbartonshire library service at http://www.wdcweb.info/library/
should be able to help you in terms of advice if there are such lists, or at least local directories from that time.

Maggie

The records for some of the companies are held in the Glasgow University Archive Services not sure of which the hold but you can contact them at dutyarch@archives.gla.ac.uk or go to their website http://www.archives.gla.ac.uk/.
Another site that would give you information on the various works is http://www.geocities.com/turkeyredtrust/index.htm#home.

Hope this helps

Hello Drew
thankyou for your message i have just sent them an email (glasgow uni archives) so fingers crossed.I had contacted Dunbartonshire library services as Davie suggested by phone the gentleman who answered kindly explained to me some information about the print works (he mentioned the turkey red ) but he said that there wasn't any personel records as such as they where the first things the company would have disposed off.i will investigate the turkey red site further thanks once again regards maggie

Maggie

if you have a look at
http://www.archiveshub.ac.uk/news/0405utr.html

It will show you that they do have staff records from 1845 to 1916 but I do not know if that is all the workforce or just the management.

The problem with these archives are held Glasgow and you have to make an appointment to visit there to look through the records. They will not do it for you.
