Glad I could help, Nina,
I’ve had the Internet Archive site http://www.archive.org/index.php in my Bookmarks for a long time but I think the last time I went there it was just an archive of old web pages. Now it has branched out into book texts, music, etc and apparently is now getting US Federal funding so the info on it should be nice and secure. (But play safe regardless and save a copy).
Very handy for situations where things disappear off the internet, if you know the domain name, and with a bit of luck, you might be able to find them here.
Alan
Later,
Just as a matter of interest, strings of text from the Govan article aren’t picked up by a Google search so the Google spider doesn’t get into the Archive. However a search for the same strings using meta search engine Ixquick http://www.ixquick.com/ brings up a MSN result for a current freespace.virgin.net page, complete with photos, (the links to the maps are dead) but not to the Internet Archive one.
http://freespace.virgin.net/govanold.pc ... eyard.html
and it looks as though you can also access the articles via the Govan Old sites link to Friends of Govan Old although it’s really just the same page with dead links. All very confusing.

Annette, if you're going and are able to take pictures, I'd be really grateful for one of the grave at the top left-hand corner marked John Speirs, weaver, Govan. Without knowing the dates and other info I can't be sure, but he may well have been one of mine.
Thank you!
Helen
Thank you!

Sorry Helen no headstone for John Speirs.
Headstones are few and far between in the graveyard. William Bow's is the most northerly and there is nothing west of his either.
If you look at the map closely you can see small rectangles at the edge of some lairs and others (like William Bow's) have a dark outline.
I would say these are the only graves with headstones.
Kind regards,
Annette M
