Thanks for looking Alan. I don't remember anything else about it. I didn't pay much attention to it because all of my immediate family was from around Aberdeen. It was probably one of those "I'll go back and check this sometime" things.

I had also popped for a 24 hour pass to The Scotsman right around that time so it may have been there that I saw the reference. I do remember that one of the papers in Glasgow had a few ads for a shop carrying fine linens, laces, shoes--something of that sort and a Miss Clerihew was working for the shop. At least, her name made it into the ad!

Aha!

I love it when I'm wandering around looking for one thing and stumble across another!

I had put this set of Clerihews aside because it appeared that they married/lived in Gilbraltar making records hard to get. Then today I was reading the posts about look ups on Emeraldancestors and remembered that last year sometime I found a Mary Clerihew on the English census records who had been born in Ireland. I never got back to her until tonight, but I found her again on the 1891 England census with two children both of whom were born in Gilbraltar and the light bulb went on! I think that Caroline Clerihew's mother Mary Morrell from this post is probably the Mary Clerihew born in Ireland from last year's find! Now I need to take care a few other things. Maybe I can get back to this tomorrow and see if it will go any further.
