Thanks for the info, Lesley.
The only indication of where he was buried was "Single graves No 6" wherever that may be... I will try to get to the bottom of it when I go back, I hope, next fall.
All the best,
Sarah

I have just seen this post on Talking Scot , I have a number of my ancestors born in High Church Glasgow. Could you tell me where this was exactly, I am a Glaswegian, but I don't know this area... I am guessing it could be in The High Streetbethann wrote:Hello Sarah,

Welcome to TalkingScot.
As far as I can see, Glasgow High Church is now Glasgow Cathedral, so its parish should be the area surrounding the Cathedral.
All the best,

Does anyone know if a person dying in the Barony Poorhouse in the 1870s, would be buried in The Glasgow High Church burial grounds?.... presumably this is the graveyard behind the Cathedral and the Royal Infirmary. I assume a pauper would be buried in a Paupers grave and therefore would have no headstone. Would there be any other way of tracing such a gravesite.
Cheers

Bethann;
Was wondering if you could do me a favour? Could you check in your index of High Church burial records for a John and Jean (Walker) STEVENSON. It would have been after the 1841 census, in which they were listed as living on Clyde St. Glasgow. I am assuming they attended the Gasgow High Church..
In 1841 he was listed as being 58 years old born in 1783. Thanks Wanda
