The Scotsman - Monday, 5th October 1868, page 8
At 2 Heriot Mount on the 2nd inst, Mr James Aitken aged 75yrs. Friends at a distance please accept this intimation.
The Scotsman - Tuesday, 9th April 1872, page 8
At 9 Montague Street on the 6th inst. Margaret Aitchison, relict of Mr James Aitken in her 78th year. Friends will please accept this intimation.
Hmm, there is not much in the way of clues as to place of burial there....

Yes,,,no clues. Although they lived at St. Cuthberts I haven't been able to find any data base or publications available to look up possible cemeteries they may be buried. Jim

Someone was good enough to give me information from The Scotsman from Feb 5, 1914; James Aitchison Aitken's obituary. It mentions he was to be buried at Newington Cemetery, Edinburgh. By chance does anyone live near there? Thanks, Jim

It may be worth contacting the SGS as they have published the Monumental Inscriptions from Newington Cemetery.
