Hi everyone,
Hope this finds you all well
I'm still very much on my Lithuanian quest and determined to find out where in Lithuania my grandfather came from. Also his elusive brother who lived in Lanarkshire too. Anyways, here's my question and please excuse my ignorance but I haven't gone down this route before.
Both my grandparents and my father (who passed away last December) are buried in High Blantyre Cemetary and for the best part of 40 yrs there was never a headstone put up to say who was in the grave. I always knew where my grandparents were resting and now since my father passed on there is a headstone stating who lies there. What kind of information would i expect to get if i went to the cemetary office and asked about the burial records of my grandparents? Also if I gave them the names of their children who passed away in 1918 to 1940's would they be able to tell me where there lairs where? I'm curious as to what grave they would be in and to see if there were any other headstones with there names on them.
Thanking you in advance
Katie

Hi Katie,
Simple answer is yes. They'll have the registers listing every burial so if you gave them each name and each date of death, they should be able to find them all.
These registers have been (or should have been) kept completely up to date whether manually or on their computer systems since the cemetery was established and the way they tend to look them up is by surname on the computer, but by Section and Lair Number on the actual Registers. When they do a Lair search, everyone in that Lair appears on the print-out and sometimes who the Lair Owner was and relationships.
I would try and pass on as much info on each individual as you have.
Anne

Thank you,
I'll get right on this now. lol
I have most of the death certs, so i know the dates they died, and hopefully this will open up a new can of worms for me. It would seem every avenue i go down is constantly hampered with "brick walls" arghhhh
