Post by drapadew » Wed Nov 26, 2008 12:36 am

I am looking for some help in finding a grave for a 2+ year old girl who died in Dunbarton 27th Jan 1904

Name Jean Lafferty born 1st March 1901
Parents John Lafferty/Catherine Smith.

I do have the Death Certificate but what I would like to know?.
(Is there a rememberance/marker stone on the grave).

I have been unable to find any graveyards in Dunbarton so far
Any help will be appreciated

Hi Drew
Not sure if if is any use but I found this cemetery:
http://www.west-dunbarton.gov.uk/commun ... -cemetery/
The cemetery was opened in 1854 with the first interment being carried out on the fifth of July in that year. The cemetery serves the town of Dumbarton and is one mile from the main town centre.
Also on the same site: http://www.west-dunbarton.gov.uk/commun ... emeteries/

Information can be provided on who is interred within the lair, the date(s) of interment along with a range of other information. There is a £12.00 fee for a lair search.

Should you wish to carry out a lair search for any of the cemeteries managed by West Dunbartonshire Council, please contact the staff at the address below.

It might be worth contacting the Family History section of Dumbarton Library at

http://www.wdcweb.info/arts-culture-and ... dumbarton/

They will search the records of internments for free, if you can wait.

In any case if you are not local and you find out anything let me know and I can take a look or a photograph, if there is a marker.

regards
