Hello from a Newbie,
Can anyone tell me where I can obtain a "site map" of the Eastern Necropolis in Gallowgate. I will be visiting Scotland in August and
would like to visit the cemetery to look for the Lairs belonging to
the GREENLEES family.

My first port of call would be
Glasgow City Council who may be able to supply a site map.
You will need a lair number. The Mitchell Library should have an index of MI's that would give you this
if there is a headstone. Hopefully your ancestors could afford one.

Annette

Hi Dawn,
Welcome to Talking Scot!

From my own experience, I know that your trip to Scotland will answer many questions, but raise some more! If you come back with any puzzles, just post them and we'll try to find the answers!
All the best,
Sarah

A thank you to Annette & Sarah for their prompt reply to my query.
The Lairs I am looking for are in section 3 - Lair 2038 and Lair 2039 - Lair owner Thomas Greenlees. As I will not have very much time to search, I thought I may be able to obtain a map of the cemetery sections to save a bit of time. I will be on a bus tour and only have one afternoon free.

would love to be staying longer.

You can contact Glasgow City Council and arrange for somebody to direct you to the layer on the day.
