Hi Everyone
I would like to find the place of burial for a man who died in the Sighthill area of Edinburgh in 1952. His surviving children were infants at the time, so no one to assist with family folklore etc. I know that some records for Edinburgh are held at Mortonhall Crematorium - would that be my best point of initial enquiry? Any suggestions gratefully received.

Re: Burial in Edinburgh
Hi Ted,
Yes, the City of Edinburgh Council's Cemetery Records Office at Mortonhall Crematorium is the best starting point.
For the Sighthill area, the nearest Council cemetery is Saughton Cemetery. Bear in mind that he may have been cremated.
Another source to consider is the microfilms of The Scotsman and the Evening News in the Edinburgh Room of the Central Library in George IV Bridge. You may find a funeral notice there, with information regarding the burial or cremation. As these are unindexed, you would need a date in 1952 as a starting point (or a lot of time
).
All thre best,
AndrewP
