Hi macneill
Who was it you e-mailed? Was it the Archdiocese?
I'm asking as you said it was the 'Cathedral' you hadn't received any reply from. (If it was Glasgow Cathedral Archives, then they have nothing to do with the records for Old Dalbeth or St. Peter's (also Dunbeth).
Try sending an e-mail here: Sharon.Scullion AT rcag.org.uk (replacing AT with @)
There is an office at St. Peter's but they don't keep any records there.
Providing you visit Mon-Fri they'll show you exactly where the grave is.

Hi maceill
Would it be possible to phone them? I think sometimes when you are actually there on the other end of the line, and even if you have to offer to call back later in the day to give them time to look it up, it may help to extract the info you are after!

Mr Richard McIntyre

Best wishes

p.s. Just as a complete aside, futher down that page there is a title of someone I thought "that will be the one to contact", but being focussed on the task in hand, I had of course read it wrongly...I had read "Diocesan Master of Ceremonies" as "Diocesan Master of Cemeteries" !!

Re: St Peters Dalbeth
The man in St Peters office is very helpful and if you have the lair he will either take you or have someone else take you to the numbered lair.. the grave I was looking for had no stone so we had to go with the two marked with numbers stones at either side of the plot.. the Archdioscese are the ones to contact in this case.
