Looking for King or Gerrie burial Kincardineshire 1897-'12

Post by eNZedFred » Wed Apr 13, 2011 10:04 am

Looking for graves.....
Greetings all,
I have visted Scotland twice and had hoped to visit the graves of family. I found Gr grandparents at Laurencekirk, Kincardineshire and Gr gr gr grandparents at Monymusk, Aberdeenshire, but not the ones in between. Both lots have well marked graves with good headstones. The ones that I am looking for died relatively recently.
Isabella (or Isobel) Gerrie (or Garioch or Herriegerrie) died at Lower Powburn Farm, Laurencekirk 20 October 1897. I am told she was buried at Laurencekirk on the 21st. I have made enquiry and physically searched the cemetery with no luck. The neighbouring parish is Fordoun, and I have had a look in the cemetery there in the village of Auchenblae, also with no luck. I have since learned that there may be two cemeterys in the town. In the other direction is Garvock Parish, and while I have family there, there is no Isabella.
Her husband William King died 4 March 1912 at 9.45pm West Bogton, Glenbervie. (His daughter's residence) I would expect him to have been buried with his wife, but I have been told that William is buried at Stonehaven, but I can't find any record of it. I searched every headstone at Glenbervie with no luck.
Any help or ideas appreciated,
Fred King

Hi Fred,

It's been a while since your post and sorry no-one has been able to help so far. Perhaps you've now found the gravesites you were seeking, if not, maybe by bumping your post back to the top of the board will bring some 'fresh eyes' that might be able to help.

Regards,
Anne H

Details of all the likely burial grounds are in Stonehaven. Have you contacted the registrar there?
