death notices in newspapers.....

Hi there,

I have found an article in an old local newspaper regarding the death of my 3xG-grandfather. It is his death notice and at the end of the notice it reads: american papers please note.

if anyone can tell me why this would be there or how i find out any more about it please let me know

Very common to find the comment "******** papers please note", - as a method of getting newspapers in other locations to pass on the information on the deceased, - obviously on the basis that people in these other locations would know of the deceased.
