Where would he be buried?.....
My ggggreatgrandfather was born (in 1726) on a farm named Glassgreen near Elgin. I am looking for the burial site of his parents. Would they have been buried on the farm? I would write the proper authorities but have no idea in what parish this farm is located. Can someone please give me some guidance in this matter?
Umlach (Glassgreen, Elgin area), Grant (Glenmoriston area)

Hi Janetgh
..and a warm welcome to Talking Scot
I found this reference to Glassgreen
http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/190574
and according to:
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/MO ... 1054581200
www.mbgrg.org
Also , the pages for Moray Council give a list of burial grounds in the area - bear in mind these will be ones in use in present day. Some older, now disused ones may not be listed.

you could maybe try contacting them, athough sometimes these departments only deal with more recent burials, but they may be able to point you in the right direction.
best wishes

It should fall into Elgin Parish, I would guess. I doubt that your ancestors would have been buried on the farm - more likely at the nearest churchyard or another churchyard within the area with which they had a connection. You could try this website:Glassgreen is a farm outside New Elgin, situated between the road to Birnie and the A941 to Rothes.

If you go to:
http://www.old-maps.co.uk/
and type the following coordinates you will see Grassgreen on a map from 1873-4. It is south of New Elgin, which is south of the City of Elgin.
