Rosehill Cemetery in Montrose Scotland.....

Post by Maggie64 » Wed Aug 02, 2006 12:11 am

Hello here is Maggie from Canada
Any volunteer to find my gggg grandparent's gravestone at Rosehill cemetery in Montrose, Lair 256.
I tried to find this gravestone but I could not find this gravestone when I was on holiday last October. I completely have no idea if this gravestone still stands today at Rosehill cemetery. I hope that someone will be willing to take some photographs of my gggg grandparent's gravestone one day. My gggg grandparents names Edward Brannan (Brannen/Brennan) with his wife Isabella Rae, also their son Edward Brannan who was seaman lost in Southern Ocean August 1858. Please contact me if you need more information. Thank you Margaret :)

Hi Maggie
Most areas will be happy to either supply you with a map of the cemetery or give directions to find a grave. As you already have the lair number they should be able to tell you where that is situated within the grounds.
Try:
Leisure Services
County Buildings
Market Street
Forfar DD8 3WA
Tel: 01307 473225 or 01307 473257
E-Mail: Burialgrounds@angus.gov.uk

Even if you can't visit yourself, it may be easier for someone else to locate the spot for you if they have some idea of where to look. I don't know how big Rosehill is, but with some cemeteries you could spend a lifetime looking & still not find the stone you were after!
Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Maggie
I just came accross your post when doing a search for Montrose.
The MI book for this cemetery shows your grave just to the west side of the gate on Rosehill Road.
No promises but I've to go to Carnoustie next weekend to bring our caravan home for the winter and if I can I'll try to get a photo for you.
Best regards
Roy
