Hi Wendy
...and a warm welcome to Talking Scot. :D

I do hope someone recognises your Jamesons. Once you are back in the early 1700s, the going can get pretty tough, as I'm sure you are aware! There is quite a large element of luck really, in what has survived. Have you seen the original OPR entries for the marriage and births of their children on microfilm? Sometimes if you are lucky there can be small clues which can help to build a bigger picture...

Best wishes
Lesley

Yes I have seen the OPR.

I found via Scotlands People that there is only 1 Robert Jameson born at Hamilton in that time. I have the extract from the OPR of a Robert Jameson born 24 July 1701 to William Jamison & Margaret Lauson. They also had a daughter Margaret b. 1704.

How do I find out if this is "my" Robert Jamieson? Wonder where he was buried?

Any help / suggestions appreciated

Wendy

Hi Wendy
Hamilton Monumental Inscriptions would be worth checking. They do exist for the parish church:

Someone here on TS may have access to them, I hope, and be able to have a look for you to see if there is any sign of Jamesons.

Best wishes
