Spent a couple of hours at these cemeteries yesterday :o .I did not even know they existed. I was looking for the Keay connection to my tree, found three possibles, heres hoping. The old Forgan cemetery must carry a lot of history but the Vicarsford church, what is that all about? It's fantastic.Any info anyone!Another query i have is the Mars traing ship 1895-1928,training for what?and why did so many young men die?David

Hi David
Vicarsford church, what is that all about?
The building at Vicarsford is not a church, it is the Leng Memorial Chapel, a kind of private family mausoleum. Looks like a wee church, but it isn't!!

Forgan cemetery is cracking!! Love it. Very spooky on some days..I prefer to go with some company!
Wonderful old stones, some very unusual ones. Full of fascinating insights, people's lives & some wonderful inscriptions.

There are published MIs for Forgan - Kay, Keay & Key all feature. You can find the MI book in Cupar Library.

Best wishes
Lesley

I really don't know - not ever looked into it that deeply! Let me know if you find that you can visit it! I wonder if the owners of the cottage at the cemetery gates may know something about it?

The Leng family were big in Newport, and it seems the chapel has open days:

Gothic gem built as a memorial for Lady Mary Leng on a dramatic hill-top site with magnificent views. Designed by T M Cappon in 1895. Charming carving by John Bremner in creamy Caen stone inside.
Best wishes
