Help with deciphering the burial ground please.

Post by Jockbird » Tue Oct 31, 2006 6:10 pm

Hello.

I've got a death certificate here and I cannot make out the Burial Ground, it looks like Caelow, Burying Ground, Glasgow but I've googled away and cannot find it.

I've posted an image, which is probably just waiting to be okayed and it's titled Agnes McAllister Kerr Death Certificate 1858....or words to that effect.

Can any of you help me at all? I'm hoping this is perhaps where some more of the family may be but I don't know where it is to start! :?

Thanks for your time

Best wishes

Hi Donna,

Haven't seen the image yet but could it be Calton?

here's a wee link you might find interesting if it does turn out to be Calton Burial Ground:

Hello Anne, Andrew & David,

Thank you so much, I've looked at it again and can see that yes it is Calton but, like you say David, it's an awfy wee 'l'. I knew I'd get it sorted if I came on here.

Thank you Anne for that link, it was interesting that it was mainly for weavers, Agnes's father & husband were rope-spinners and I'm wondering if the weavers and rope-spinners maybe had a connection of sorts, as her father has also been decribed as a cotton-band weaver.

Many thanks to you all again

Donna

p.s. Any idea where I'd get more info re individuals buried there? The Mitchell?
