I don't know if such an animal exists. I'm trying to find a map of each county in the Highlands that would show the location of each church in that county during the mid to late 1700's. I thought it would be real helpful to cross-off churches as I'm doing my searches. I also think it would be a help, more of a visual to how the counties and churches are close by as I'm searching the Baillie name. I could mark the map if there are many other Baillie's even if they are not related.
Any idea where I might look to find a map like that . . . if such a creature exists? I tried Cyndi's List but it seems like I get lost and sidetracked real easy on that site for some reason, I'm sure it's just me.
It doesn't have to be a detailed map but just a very simple map would be great, actually probably the more simple, the better.
Thanks,
Dave

The Scottish Association of FHSs has an ongoing project to list the location of cemeteries in Scotland, - and historically these would have been associated with a church.Baillie 1799 wrote:I don't know if such an animal exists. You could also usefully contact the Los Angeles Latter Day Saints Family History Center who have tremendous expertise in terms of the existence and location of non-established presbyterian congregations.......

Re: MAPS For Church Locations
But I think it's worth mentioning that in some regions of Scotland, especially the Islands, that cemetries, while associated with a church, were quite often some distance away from it.DavidWW wrote:...snipped... A previous post about a map of cemetries on Mull, for example, clearly displays this practice. Folk just didn't have the transport, or the roads for that matter, to cross the islands with the deceased, so cemetries are often scattered about.
