Lambhill cemetery search

Post by AndyR1 » Mon Nov 27, 2006 10:17 pm

Hi Im new here and this looks like a great site. Im trying to find my Grandmothers grave. She died in childbirth 1933 and as far as I know was buried in Lambhill. Ive contacted the cemeteries dpt and they say they will send me out any detail they have on record, but still waiting :( does anyone know where I can find any info on burials there online?

Cheers

Hi Andy
Welcome to Talking Scot :D
As far as I'm aware, there isn't an online list of burials for Lambhill, Glasgow.

I think you would need to contact the Cemeteries & Crematoria Registrar, as mentioned on the above web page, as you have already done.

Best wishes
Lesley

Hi Andy

I have a 3xgraunt that was buried in Lambhill in 1891. I had a death date and knew from an RCE that she was buried in that cemetery but wondered if there was any other family buried with her. So I sent an email to the Glasgow City Council and asked to have her burial information. After more than 2 months  and it might even have been 3 I received a surface snail mail  confirming her location in the common ground area of the cemetery. So yes you can get an answer but expect to perhaps wait a long time!! It was a complete shock to get the letter as I had figured the email was long ago binned.

The address from the stationery is: Glasgow Cit Council, Richmond Exchange, 20 Cadogan Street, Glasgow G2 7AD Phone 0141 28 9000 Fax 0141 287 9059

But the end of the letter directs "If phoning or visiting please ask for Katrina Johnston...direct phone 0141 287 3961 or fax 0141 287 3960
I hope this helps you get your answers!

Best wishes
Jean

ps..forgot to mention...my letter was received in Aug 2004....so maybe this isn't current news anymore....but here's hoping! :D

When I finally got a reply for a Dalbeth query, I nearly fell off my chair.
Six people were named in the plot, including an unknown cousin and aunt.
And who the heck is that? Grannies mother under her third married name!
Three husbands names on death cert., but middle marriage never found.

:) Thanks everyone for the info. I will try to call them tomorrow from work if I get some peace lol Ive been trying for a long time to find her grave and its only been the last few months that I found out it was Lambhill for sure she was burried in, Ive tried all the family plots in other cemeteries and found people that I thought where burried elsewhere lol just goes to show " dont believe everything your family tell you ". for some reason ( dont know why) she is burried under her maiden name and not my family name??? Most of her children are dead ( two left alive ) and they where small kids when she died so they cant shed any light on it either.
Once again thank you all :)
