Dear Kiltie
Riddrie Cemetery appears to be on Cumbernauld Road, Provanmill, Glasgow. Try doing a google search - you'll get a few sites coming up with information about the area. The cemetery is sited about disused mine workings and a few years ago, following some very heavy rain, there was an accident.
From the sites that came up about it, I don't think the cemetery is in much use today - it might well be part of a nature conservancy area. No doubt someone with more local knowledge than me will give you some further info. Good luck in your searching.
Liz

I,too, can confirm Riddrie cemetary is still actively used. My parents and grandmother and an uncle are buried there. I visited last year and found my parents stone overturned, no doubt by local urchins. As I remember a couple of well known Glasgow families buried there are the Logans (Jimmy's family) and McIvers (Barrowland). A very helpful worker helped me right the stone. If you visit, cross the road to Hogganfield (Huggie, as we called it) Loch and rent a rowboat, assuming they still do that.(Its been a while since I did that)

Liza. can you advise me if I should contact the sexton of the cemetery or the Glasgow council to assertain the plot number of my grand parents who are both buried there. My grandmother Margaret Glover Burnside Wilson died 8th June 1954 and my grandfather died 5 July 1956.
I can see in my mind that the plot was somewhere on the east side as you enter the main gate.
Any info would be appreciated
James.

You should emailGlasgow City Council although don't worry if you don't get a response right away as they can be quite slow.

I've just recently finished surveying Riddrie Park for War-Graves and the results are here:
http://scottishwargraves.phpbbweb.com/v ... hwargraves
There's also an aerial view map of the cemetery on the above site.
Anne.
P.S. All 349 CWGC graves found apart from 6 which are all within a cordoned off part of Section A.
P.P.S. Riddrie Park is HUGE - not the kind of cemetery you could go searching in without having some sort of clue where to look
