hi marilyn
it looks like i am going to have to put my hand in my pocket and buy it problem is that you cant buy on line and they dont accept foreign cheques
and as the uk has not changed to euros like the rest of us in europe i will have to find some pound notes to send them, did this for the censuses and the DGFHS are very quick in sending so i will do that.
cheers from france derek time for a small glass of wine now the sun has passed the yardarm or as we say in france la train a deja passe

Hi Derek

Can you give me any full names and rough dates? Do you know if it is definately Penpont?

Although the following site does not have your surnames it may be of interest.

I was at the library today and had a quick look at Penpont index.

I found some Kirkpatricks and some Hislops.

At a quick look there are at least five Kirkpatrick graves. some with a few names. There are at least three graves for the Hislops. Again with a few names.

The following are two of them:

In memory of Thomas Hislop who died at Myers 21st January 1852 aged 64. William Hislop his son who died at Bellstane on 8th December 1859 aged 21 years and William infant son of Thomas Hislop jnr. who died 26th October 1860. Also Helen Crosbie wife of above Thomas Hislop who died at Bellstane on 3rd December 1869 aged 68 years.

In memory of Isobel daughter of Thomas Kirkpatrick and Agnes Hislop in Pringleton Penpont on 31st January 1856 aged 21 years. The above Thomas Kirkpatrick died in Pringleton on 5th January 1959 aged 83 years. Also Agnes Hislop his wife died 23rd January 1872 aged 88 years. Elizabeth Kirkpatrick his daughter died 17th March 1872 aged 56 years.

Margaret Kirkpatrick granddaughter of the above interred here on 5th May 1879.

I have typed what I wrote down but maybe the 1959 is wrong. Will check again if one of yours.

It will be easier if you give be first names as I am looking at Micro fiche.

Cheers

I did not find anything in the cemeteries index but I did find the following which you may already have.

John Menzies married Catherine Kirkpatrick on 31st March 1780. in Closeburn. They had at least one child called Helen born or christened 6th April 1781.

I did not find a marriage for John Menzies and Grizzel Hislop but I did find children to them. Isobel Menzies born 3rd February 1766 James Menzies born 7th February 1760, John Menzies born 28th April 1757 and Mary born 21st October 1763. They were all born in Penpont. Is that why you thought they would be buried there or have you got some other proof? These dates may be christening dates.

I hope some of this is additional information.

Cheers
