Polwarth, BER MI Lookup - McDougall

Post by JulieAK » Mon Jun 11, 2007 3:21 pm

Could anyone do a lookup for Polwarth, Berwickshire for McDougal? I've seen an index online that says there are 4 McDougal(l)s buried there.

I'm hoping to find a link between the McDougals and the Vertues or Dicksons. The gap in Polwarth OPRs is making this difficult.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone has access to the Polwarth MIs.

Thank you
Julie

Hi Julie
The Scottish Genealogy Society have the publication containing the cemetery you are interested in. It might be worth thinking about buying it if you have a few families in that area. I've never regretted buying MI books - often something turns up that you might not have found otherwise!!
  • Berwickshire MI - Vol.3. The Western Parishes.
    Price: £9.00

Pre-1855 MIs for Channelkirk, Cranshaws Churchyard, Earlston Churchyard, Fogo Churchyard, Gordon, Greenlaw Churchyard, Langton Old Burial Ground (Gavington), Lauder Churchyard, Legerwood Churchyard, Longformacus Churchyard, Mertoun (Dryburgh Abbey), Nenthorn Old Graveyard (Newton Don), Polwarth Churchyard, Westruther Churchyard.

I have checked out the Scot. Gen. Soc. online shop and also the Borders FHS website publication - both have Polwarth MIs. But I'm not sure which one I need - I posted on the Scot. Gen Soc. forum asking about the differences between the two publications but haven't got a response yet. I do plan on buying one of them but can't right now - still recovering from buying an Ancestry subscription :) I keep telling my family how MI books make lovely birthday gifts but they keep buying me chocolates.

In the meantime I'm stuck on some McDougals... Was hoping one of those four Mcdougal graves in Polwarth would mention a Virtue or Dickson.
