Berwickshire MIs

Post by Jean Jeanie » Wed Aug 15, 2007 12:24 pm

I have a faint lead that one of my Deans family moved to Westruther, Berwickshire from Skene Aberdeen.

There is an MI for him. Joseph Deans 1768 - 1837. His wife Janet Brown died 1839.

A contact has given me this info but seems reluctant to supply the details of the MI :?

So before going down the route of BMD's and censuses for this family, can anyone confirm or deny if this MI shows that Joseph came from Skene?

Best wishes
Jean

Hi Mary

Yup that's him :!:

I have John b 1749 well documented. He made it easy and remained in Skene. He is in my husband's direct line. Why he doesn't show up when you put in the parents names, I don't know, but if you put in his name and year of birth he turns up!!!

I have not been able to find anything on his siblings, except, perhaps this Joseph who died in Berwickshire.

Best wishes
Jean

He doesn't show up on a parent search if you put his mother's first name in. Only her surname is given for his entry, as I mentioned.

Hello Terry

A very warm welcome to [talkingscot] [scotland-flag]

Thank you so much for the MI information. I was hoping that it mentioned that he came from Skene, but no such luck. Looks as if it could be him but then who knows

Now that you've found us, why don't you throw some of your brick walls at us

We love a challenge, as you will see if you have a look around the board.

Best wishes
Jean

Hi Terry

Can I echo Jean's welcome to TS. I love it when someone browses various sites and comes across a topic they can respond to right away.

That is the essence of TalkingScot. Helping others find their previous generations and enjoying being of assistance.

Even if you have solved most of your family ties there are many fascinating topics come up on the board which even the experienced genealogist learns something from.

Hi to you both,

Glad to help. I'm afraid after 28 years I still have not solved all my family problems. One goes another arrives so I may have brick walls to throw at you!

Best Wishes
Terry
