Post by Aodh » Sun Jun 16, 2013 6:41 pm

Here is the family of my Great Great Grandparents in the 1861 census of Larkshire. I have no additional info of their whereabouts.
Address: Langloan Iron Works Row No 28, Old Monkland.

John McGhee 40

William Mcghee 15
John Mcghee 13
Ann Mcghee 11
Sarah Mcghee 9
James Mcghee 7

Can anyone help to locate them in subsequent census records?
Thanks in advance!

Hello Aodh,
That's a difficult one! I note that John, Charlotte and the older children were all born in Ireland. Could they have gone back there?
I assume you have traced one of the children, whichever one you descend from. Where did that child go?

All the best,
Sarah

Can't really add much to what Sarah said except they did have another daughter, Helen, in 1865.

I can't find a death for a Char* M*G*e/*B*r*n either.

Regards,
Annette

Ann is my ancestor. She married Hugh McCairney Oct 1, 1875 at St Aloysius Chapel, Springburn , Glasgow, Scotland. She married 2nd William John Russell Apr 8, 1888 at Cambuslang, Lanarkshire, Scotland. In 1901 William, Ann and family lived at 96 Cuthbert St Bothwell Lanark. I can't seem to find anything on her siblings. Maybe they went to North America or Australia or elsewhere?

Hugh McCairney also had a brother James that I can't find anything about. He was a witness on one of the vital records associated with Hugh.
Thanks for trying.

Hi this may be a bit of a long shot, my Great Gran was born in Langloan, her 2nd husband was Thomas Magee b.1877Aprx. m.1933 d.1940 his dad was called James who married Elisabeth Mcconnell. Apart from Thomas' m and d. I didn't follow as it was Maggie Proctor/Duggan I was tracking.

Well I guess that has some potential to be a connection. If you find out any more on James please let me know. Thanks.
