What is a Flesher?.....

On my g.g grandmother's wedding cert. it gives her father-in-law's occupation as "Flesher" Does anyone know what this is?

the "Sources" on this site includes old occupations. A flesher was a butcher.

A flesher is a Scots term for a butcher - I would say it was an old-fashioned term. About 10 years ago, the Co-op in East Lothian had butcher's vans, with the wording painted on the side "mobile fleshing department", and the term seemed archaic then.
