This would refer to the second rail line built through cathcart by the Lanarkshire & Ayrshire Rail company (this is the line that now terminates at Neilston) to take coal through to Ardrossan.
a map shows the line running just north of Menock Road and Manse Braeand travelling parallel to Delvin Road and Monreith Road east before turning southwest towards merrylee road.

Unfortunately the maps on Old map .co. uk don't give enough detail of the area to name the streets but Alan Godfrey do have a 1910 ordnance survey map of cathcart for sale

Hi All,
The only Huntly Gardens that I can find on a map is the one mentioned above in Hillhead.
http://www.theglasgowstory.co.uk/valmapview.php?id=24
The equivalent map of the Cathcart Station area is:
http://www.theglasgowstory.co.uk/valmapview.php?id=36
Or on a modern map:
click here for current map showing Old Castle Gardens and Holmhead Road
All the best,
AndrewP

Here are a few more Glasgow Herald items regarding places in the neighbourhood. It’ll give a bit of an idea of the set-up that existed. Probably all swallowed up by the large area devoted to the Railway Junctions. The 1901 Census Enumeration District Description, if any, may be useful (see Walter Pottier 1899 if necessary).
There are quite reasonable images of the area on Google Earth with clearer street name detail than the modern street map, tick the Roads box.

It will not be old castle gardens as these are a new development aboyt 5 years ago.
Probably were an older set of buildings that were demolished when the railway was built/expanded

Hello Paul
Just taken a look at Alan's post re the "Letter to the ED" regarding proposednew railway line at Cathcart.
Looks certain to me that "Huntly Gardens" would be a terrace of villas making up part of a road in Cathcart, same with the "Castle Gardens". You can still see the names of some of these terraces in faint gold lettering on the end-of-terrace house wall in Glasgow - I am thinking particularly of Dumbarton Road (Scotstoun end), but I know that there used to be similar terraces in the vicinity of Cathcart Road and suspect that it was usual practice in late 1800s and early 1900s.
I don't suppose these individual terraces would be shown on maps, just the main name of the road.
Regards
Lorna

Hi Lorna,
Sorry for taking so long to come back to you.
I think your right that there is good chance that Huntly Gardens is part of another Road in Cathcart.
I think I'm now almost certain it must been closed to the Railway.
Thanks for everyones help.
Regards
