Here was me moaning about getting soaked on Wed. evening.I had no idea the weather was so bad "up North".
Hope the weather has improved & there are no men gathering wood & animals two by two.

The weather is lovely here today! I feel for those looking for alternative accommodation following the floods - they will be lucky if they are home for Christmas - my wife lived in the deep end in 1997!

This week's Northern Scot had a story about the successful introduction of the Forres Flood Alleviation Scheme: I hope it worked.

As a Gloucester resident, I sympathise with all of you up there. We had a "bit of a flood" a few years back and some people have only just moved back in very recently. We were "lucky" in that we were without mains water for three weeks, but it makes you VERY appreciative of the basic things in life!

Gordon,

I think that it might be me.

As well as living in Elgin now, I was here in 1997 when it flooded.

I was living in Gloucester in 2007 when it flooded; and I was living in York in 2000 when it flooded.

Sorry everyone!

I think we all want to know where you are moving to next!

Are you connected to the military by any chance?

Mrs Roxy is content to stay in Elgin, but the RAF may have other plans!

I'll let you all know so that you can start building your ark!

not waiving but drowning

Post by mulberry » Thu Sep 10, 2009 3:09 pm

I thought I had heard them all, but the other day a friend told me very seriously about her trip to Spain. She had gone on a regular service bus but did not have the right change, this caused a bit of a problem for the driver as he could not make out where she wanted to go either. She was so annoyed with him that she told him 'in no uncertain terms' (her words) to speak ENGLISH! As A Glaswegian (still) I have lived here for 60 years and have got used to them, but when I really get annoyed I remind them their land is merely the back wash off the Caledonian Mountains so they have a lot of catching up to do.

 hope I haven't added to your dilemma up north by my message above. It's under the wrong heading. You do have my sympathy though with the weather. Hope you have all dried out now.
best wishes rachel.
