Many thanks for the thoughts - I live in Brisbane & woke on Wednesday thankful that I was not in Sydney - not realising the dust would arrive north in a few short hours.
It was somewhat ghastly but fortunately didn't last too long. I left one of the kitchen windows open & the benches table and floor had a wonderful cover of fine reddish sand when we got home.
The folks who insist on using blinding fog lights on cars, in an environment that gets a fog once every five years, had a great time being able to legitimately use them for a few hours.
I would suggest that you might like to find some other drinking supplies for a week or two Alan - a number of alternatives to water spring to mind.
Trish
Hope you're ok downunder.

I was once told that sarsparilla and ouzo makes a great drink - but decided the ouzo without the sars was betterCurrie wrote:Hello Trish,
Sarsparilla?
A bit of dust in the water won’t be so bad. It’ll be a change from the stuff that’s usually washed off the roof.
All the best,
Alan
We lived with tank water in my youth - the only time it became undrinkable was when a small animal (usually a frog) managed to get into the tank & drowned in same. I don't remember any concern about the cleanliness or otherwise of roof and guttering.
