Re: Update to TalkingScot forum software
I like the other way too...but then I am the same as a few here...not liking change. I will be okay in a day or two.
One thing that concerned me this morning was the way email notifications for thread replies look in my inbox. It had andrew's email address, (adp@ etc etc) not the usual "Talkingscot". So I nearly deleted it because I thought it was junk mail. Is this just a blip, or is it the way it is now, as it wasn't easy to identify that the email was from here?

I can manage the changes if, as you said, there are advantages on the admin and moderating side. You admins and moderators deserve some advantages for all your hard work.

Re: Update to TalkingScot forum software
I'm too old for change, but we have to go along with progress.
I liked the old feature "View new posts from last visit" (something like that), cant seem to see it in the new format.

Re: Update to TalkingScot forum software
I suppose we are all at that age where we dont like change
Another thing that changed for me was my quick link no longer works. I can no longer see *view posts since last visit* and also how to moderate posts but maybe i need a bit of time to look around properly.

Hi Kathy
That feature is still there - when on the board index page, up the top left (not top right as it used to be) you'll see:
View unanswered posts • View new posts • View active topics
The "View new posts" option does the trick.
Best wishes

Thanks for pointing that one out. After much searching of the Admin area, I have returned that to normal.

Re: Update to TalkingScot forum software
It’s looking good Andrew but takes a bit of getting used to.
Did TS links open in a new window (or a new tab) before the change or am I going bonkers?
Is it possible to change the access to profiles and peoples previous posts to as it was before? I usually only logon when I’m posting something but now I also have to logon to see previous posts.
All the best,
Alan

Re: Update to TalkingScot forum software
Hi Alan,
The TS links always opened in the same tab, same window. If you want these linked pages to open on a fresh tab, hold down the <control> key when clicking on the link. This method may vary according to the browser you are using.
In this software version the access to profiles is only available if you are logged on. That is regarded as a security (privacy?) improvement - may also keep the web robots out of there. I suspect that the posts by a user are linked to the availability to the profile. It looks like you are going to have to log on to use these features.
All the best,
AndrewP
