I use a Service that you can find just by Googling KRYSTAL.
I've got MASSIVE sites without restriction. They host PHPBB by default so it is very easy to take EVERYTHING out of this database and any front end "Talking Scot" graphics etc.
There may be a 24 hour hiatus but EVERYTHING can be saved.
If there's any problem I'm very willing to host the whole site on my space. Think I can port over all the admin folk as well so that no monkeying about is needed.
Just give me a shout

Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).
Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.

Re: TalkingScot on the move
Hi Andy,
There is work going on in the background at TalkingScot. If it was simply a matter of re-creating the forum and uploading the backup, then that would have been done a couple of weeks back. There are complications, which include the volume of the backup (including the text of over 100,000 posts), and that the forum software has evolved a few times since we last had to do a rebuild. The graphics and the TalkingScot customisation of the forum are not a problem.
Thanks for your offer, but at this stage I have not given up with the rebuild I am trying.
All the best,
AndrewP

My PMs are still there, at least back until May 2011, which was probably when I last had a clear out.AndrewP wrote:Dear All,

This is the one negative point. We will lose all of the PMs that are on the current forum. So if you have information there that you need, now is the time to copy that onto your own computer so that you won't lose any information that is in your PMs. The new forum will have the PM system available to use as normal, but will start with empty mailboxes for all. As much as it is inconvenient for some people to lose these PMs, I believe that it is a small price to pay for getting the forum up and running again.

Re: TalkingScot on the move
Greetings again.
This time, out of interest, just tried the BACK DOOR FAQ link that I saved to get in until even that way in failed some weeks ago.
This time straight in, so most links appear to be giving access to the forum.
Great one.

Re: TalkingScot on the move
I found an answer to the problem that I was having with the PMs. So any PMs that were attached to the old forum up at the end of last week were brought onto the new forum.Montrose Budie wrote:My PMs are still there, at least back until May 2011, which was probably when I last had a clear out.AndrewP wrote:Dear All,

Phew, because there was no email warning of their potential loss and I hadn't seen this post until today.

Re: TalkingScot on the move
Site greatly improved. Thanks. I am having one problem in that I can't stay permanently logged in, in spite of ticking the appropriate box. Is this something to do with the upgrade?
