Doe's the name Simpson or Gillen mean anything to you? The two deaths that Annette found registered in 1993 in Greenock, I believe are one and the same, only one has the maiden name as Simpson and the other as Gillen. They have the same GROS number 640/00 0338.

Where are you located Chrissie? If you went to the Greenock Registry office they would let you have a look at both of them.

Thanks for looking Ina .................doesn't look very likely that she's the one Chrisseyw is looking for. :(

Annette,

You are correct, I just found Jane Boyd's birth registered in both Greenock and Gourock in 1929.

The 1918 marriage to between James Boyd and Jane Lafferty is correct as it gives her maiden name as Burby and she is listed as a widow. Her parents names were James Lafferty and Elizabeth Galbraith.

Regards,

Ina

My Great Uncle's wife had 6 children with another man and the Birth Certificates have a notification like "married to............. and states that he is not the father of the child" but also named the other man. She also had another child and it said father unknown :-( .

I have just recently found out that it appears that my Great Uncle went to Canada and "remarried" there although it appears that there was no divorce from the "first" wife (I maybe wrong and just haven't found it yet!). My understanding is that only divorces in Scotland would have been marked on the original marriage entry so I may never know.

hi carline yes my mothers is like that it says wife of and when the married then in the fathers place my grandad signed it the thing is though she lied about when she married mr boyd on that cert so she must have had someone else before she met my grandad
