Monumental Inscriptions

Post by Mortisha » Wed Aug 19, 2009 6:19 pm

Another useful site for Scottish Monumental Inscriptions can be found at Scottish-Monumental-Inscriptions.co.uk where you can purchase CD's covering Churchyards and Cemeteries for various areas in Scotland.

If you are looking for various relatives in a particular area this can work out cheaper, as you are purchasing a CD which covers the whole Churchyard or Cemetery.

There is also a guest book where you can request Churchyards and Cemeteries not already photographed and transcribed to be done, they are very helpful

Happy hunting

Hi Mortisha,

Welcome to TalkingScot! :D

I’ve had a look and I see that a good few cemeteries/churchyards have been surveyed there and I’m sure the CD’s will be a welcome resource for many a person looking for relatives. The downside is that the CD’s have to be purchased before you have an inkling as to whether or not any of your relatives would be listed since the website only provides a surname. I’ve bought so many different MI books only to find zilch (I take that back…only to find one husband and wife). I think I’ll be sticking with the free resources for the time being (since my budget is so limited) and only purchase when I know my relatives will be where I hope they are.

Regards,
Anne H
