hi Frances ,
i noticed the records i looked at today didnt have the writing , i recall the first search for him ,was a long one just name and year of birth as had no ships name ,
if he married first i knew of it , but doesnt mean him didnt , infact on a poor relief application i have says he is single ,
its a mix up
present since 1/3/1924
in American from 25/8/1923 , maybe that date is from when he left Paisley
seems he came back in March and has Friends as in the Pawtucket people he wanted to go back to in May he was going to work his passage from Liverpool , application was approved , but then withdrawn , could be it was too late as he should have saily end of May ,
still trying to work out who these Jamiesons are with no luck ,

i managed to find a William Jamieson who was from Loch Winnoch , i wondered about these ones a while back as couldnt get any of them ,getting married here or dying , Fathers a John , i found a record on Ellish Island for 1908 William aged 21 , which seems right /same ones , he went to a A Stewart (ugh) lookes like 155 G---sey Street ? piont Brooklyn NY ,
which is interesing as when my Mother left Canada and going home in the 30s she went to visit we cant recall someone in NY ,
anyone any ideas on where to go now , as i only have the UK access

Hi Jan:

The manifest shows Wm. Jamieson, 21. 1908 going to A. Stewart, 155 Guernsey St., Greenpoint, Brooklyn, NY.

The manifest shows he is the son of Jas. Jamieson, with his address of origin Calder St. Lochwunoch, Scotland. The shortform Jas. usually refers to James not John. If I'm reading it incorrectly, it could be Jos. for Joseph.

155 Guernsey St Brooklyn, NY 11222-2828 is still there, according to Mapquest.

oh dear
means the one i have pulled out from scotlands people isnt him , the woman from the Pawtucket Library said there was a William R Jamieson at Francis Street
and thought it might be a misprint for William B ( Brodie) so this must be the wrong Jamiesons at the Scottish end , oh well more happy hunting ,
many thanks for the help

oh dear
i see where i messed up , this James married to Marion , his folks were John and Mary ,
he had a Brother Hugh and William , now i think its this William i have found in USA he went out to Hugh his Brother ,
awful habit Scots have of naming each child as brothers and Sisters lol confusing , but its connecting them up now
