In reply to the original question I have often pulled an all nighter when looking for my long losts and have noticed the wee hours for UK and NA also known as the Ozzie day are the quietest. As for me I usually here at least once a day usually more but it depends on my work shift and the bairns. :D

Hi All

Here in California is probably the worst. Right now it is 12:51PM, and I am surprised that there are at least 4 other people on with me. I usually check in on TS, between 11:00AM and 6:00 PM PDT, or PST. I think that I am 7 or 8 hours behind Scotland, and 3 hours behind, the east coast. I notice that the later I log in, the fewer people there are.

Regards

Sheila

You mean something like this, David?

Antipodean - A group of rocky islands of the southern Pacific Ocean southeast of New Zealand, to which they belong. They were discovered by British seamen in 1800 and are so named because they are diametrically opposite Greenwich, England.

In geography, the antipodes (from Greek anti- "opposed" and pous "foot") of any place on Earth is its antipodal point; that is, the region on the Earth's surface which is diametrically opposite to it. Two points which are antipodal to one another are connected by a straight line through the centre of the Earth.

In Britain, "the Antipodes" is often used to refer to Australia and New Zealand (and "Antipodeans" for their inhabitants), despite the fact that neither Australia nor New Zealand actually overlap the antipodal points of Britain. However, New Zealand (or more precisely the North Island) is antipodal to Spain

The term plays a certain role in the discussion about the shape of the Earth. The antipodes being an attribute of a spherical Earth, some authors used their perceived absurdity as an argument for a flat Earth. However, knowledge of the spherical Earth being widespread even during the Dark Ages, only occasionally disputed on dogmatic grounds, the medieval dispute surrounding the antipodes mainly concerned the question whether they were inhabitable: since the torrid clime was considered impassable, it would have been impossible to evangelize them, posing a dilemma between two equally unacceptable possibilities that either Christ had appeared a second time in the antipodes, or that the inhabitants of the antipodes were irredeemably damned. Such an argument was forwarded by the Spanish theologian Tostatus as late as the 15th century.

ON HOLIDAY and your fingers are twitching over the laptop. I know the feeling but now I know why my wife won't let me buy a laptop :D :D
Ina is not alone in checking in on TalkingScot while on holiday. If you check my postings over the past three weeks, they were all appended with where from. You may find Singapore, Sydney, various places in NZ and Hong Kong listed.

All the best,

Reading the posts on this topic and it seems to me that most of us addicted to genealogy are night owls. Nothing can compare to the quiet hours, when work is done, the TV is off and we can sit at our computer, alone, un-interupted and focus on the job of research, or just a good read, with the rest of the family asleep in bed where they can't hassle us
Its 11.10 pm here in Oz and there are seven of us on TS, so I guess Iam not really alone
