What a shame we won't have the pleasure of your company David. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the information and expertise you have kindly shared with all of us - you will be greatly missed but certainly not forgotten.
Haste ye back!

So sorry that you are leaving.
May I add my good wishes to the others, David, and wish you a happy retirement. I have benefitted enormously from much of your knowledge in answering the queries of others, and also my own queries. You have thrown light into many dark corners of Scottish and family history. Your good humoured replies will be missed. It is the generous and good natured members of this discussion group that make it the best. Thanks to you and all the other moderators for keeping it so good.
I hope that the time will come soon when we may hear from you again, even if only to let us know that retirement is great.
Hast ye back

Many thanks for all your work for TS - I'm sure what you have done over a long period is a major reason this is the best site on the whole web - never mind what subject.
Enjoy your "retirement".
Best wishes to to Ina as she starts to paddle madly.

I hope you enjoy your well-deserved rest, David!
Thanks for helping break down a few of my brick walls (or, at least, knocking out some huge chunks), but thank you, more, for teaching us all how to break down some of those walls by ourselves. Your lessons are applicable to our Scotland ancestors, but many of the lessons are useful in other parts of the world as well.
Thanks again, and enjoy!

I'd like to add my heatfelt thanks and appreciation for all of your hard work and dedication in setting up and chairing TalkingScot David.
As has been said before, this is undoubtedly the best site on the web.
You and the other good folks on here have helped me enormously over the years. My initial interest in genealogy coincided with the set up of TalkingScot - and so it and the people on it have largely contributed to my addiction - and my constantly improving knowledge.
You have been, and will continue to be, an inspiration to me and, I'm sure, countless others.
Thanks for everything, and all the best for the future in whatever you do.
Best wishes and thanks also to all those who work so tirelessly behind the scenes to make this the great site it is.
Kind Regards
Ellen.
